How Gina Brooke Created Madonna’s Eye Candy Look

Source: talkingmakeup.com

Madonna’s new look “Eye Candy” created for her new album “HARD CANDY” was designed by shu uemura’s Artistic Director and Madonna makeup artist Gina Brooke.

Madonna

“It’s all about the eyes and we are both inspired by images taken in the sixties by photographer Sam Haskins (Cowboy Kate, Five Girls, and November Girls). I wanted to put a modern-day twist on these beautiful photographs of glamorous women from the sixties,” commented Brooke on Madonna’s new look that appears in the packaging on her new “HARD CANDY” CD, the current Elle Magazine featuring Madonna, as well as in Madonna’s “4 Minutes to Save the World” video with Justin Timberlake.

Here’s how Gina designed the look using shu uemura products:

STEP 1: Prepare the face. Begin with prepping the eyes with the Moisture Eye Zone Mask. This will not only calm puffiness but it will give your eyes the ultimate hydration . Then apply Phyto Black Lift Firming Cream on the whole face-it’s an amazing moisturizer and also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Lastly, apply Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation beginning at the arch of your brow down to the middle of your eye, directly onto to the middle of of the cheekbone. Each time the sun reflects of your skin, it will create an illusion of glowing, dewy, healthy, radiant skin!

Madonna

STEP 2: Prime the eyelids. Using a Kolisky Brush II, apply Pressed Eye Shadow in M Beige 800 above the eyelids. Then, use Cover Crayon in 9YR Lightin the inner corner and water line of the eyes and make them apear larger. Using the Drawing Pencil in Black, begin at the inner corners extending the line out all the way to the end of the eyebrow.

STEP 3: Prep the lashes. Use the Eyelash Curler before applying Basic Black Mascara beginning at the base and rolling the brush through the tips of lashes. Apply Soft Cross Lashes to draw attention and enhance the shape of the eye.

STEP 4: Finish off with the lips. Since the focus is on the eyes, use Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine in PK 301S layered with Gloss Unlimited in BG 930N for a soft, natural look.

The Secret to SPINLASH

Source: talkingmakeup.com

I must say, when I first introduced to SPINLASH I was a bit skeptical. But to my surprise, this little magic mascara called SPINLASH was able to separate and curl up my lashes perfectly!

SPINLASH is the first mascara that revolves around you with a brush that gently rotates 360 degrees in both directions to apply mascara on both the upper and lower lashes. SPINLASH comes in either black or brownish black, or you can use SPINLASH with your favorite brand.

SPINLASH Mascara

The gentle motion of the rotating brush removes clumps with every turn while it separates, coats, lengthens, and volumizes your lashes. Suitable for contact lens wearers and not tested on animals.

SPINLASH was founded by inventor/entrepreneur/author Barbara Carey. SPINLASH is part of the AKASHA line of interactive line of cosmetics coming soon to retailers near you.

SPINLASH is available since March 2008 at Target, CVS, Claire’s and other massive retailers nationwide, as well as at: www.SPINLASH.com

Price around $14.

ColorOn Professional Signs With Sephora

Source: talkingmakeup.com

Start-up cosmetic company ColorOn Professional announced a partnership with Sephora to create a unique “EyeEnvy” makeup collection. Available exclusively at Sephora, ColorOn’s EyeEnvy will debut on Sephora’s website in June, with a major launch across the U.S and Canada.

Irina Iosilevich is the inventor of the patented makeup applicator, professional makeup artist and President and Creative Director of ColorOn Professional

“This is one of the goals we’ve been working toward from the outset,” says Irina Iosilevich, inventor of the patented makeup applicator, professional makeup artist and President and Creative Director of ColorOn Professional. “Creating a new palette of colors exclusively for Sephora is an amazing reward for our dedication and belief that we could make this dream of mine a reality.”

ColorOn Professional

“Irina started with the belief that if she could invent a way for women to easily and quickly apply professional-quality, multi-tonal makeup, they would feel and look more beautiful,” says Edward Eberts, ColorOn Professional’s CEO and rainmaker. “I saw in her invention the potential to create a brand that would revolutionize the makeup industry. That looked like a very good investment!”

The South Florida-based company debuted its eye shadow applicator line nationally last Fall, and sales have steadily increased as beauty bloggers and the glossy fashion magazines (InStyle, Glamour, Elle and Cosmopolitan) took notice of colorOn. Sixteen years after patenting her idea, Irina saw her colorOn product hit the “big time” this award season with appearances in the gift lounge at the SAG Awards, in the gift bags for the performers and presenters at The GRAMMY Awards, and featured in a red-carpet segment on E! Entertainment Television preceding the Academy Awards.

ColorOn Professional

What Irina dreamed and invented was a way for women to get ready to go in the blink of an eye shadow! The oval-shaped colorOn eye shadow appliqués feature the most diverse array of colors and designs, are hypo-allergenic, and made with pure minerals. In addition to the speed and ease of application, once the wearer sets the creamy, blendable shadow with the included setting powder, the colorOn makeup will wear all day and night without smudging or creasing.

Talking Makeup will keep you posted about the ColorOn Professional launch in Sephora this coming June.

Bionic Mascara by Smashbox Cosmetics is the first ionic mascara for longer, stronger, and more voluminous super-power lashes.

Bionic Mascara by Smashbox Cosmetics

How does it work (bit technical but nevertheless fascinating): the main ingredient in Bionic is a chain molecule with a positive charge that together with the friction caused by sweeping the mascara which produces negative charge, create dramatic lashes that last all day.

Other ingredients include: aloe, wheat protein, silk, and olive oil. The new Bionic Mascara by Smashbox Cosmetics is also water-resistant, $19.
